BREAKING NEWS: Brown Out For Season

Ephrata's Brown is Done

Its been speculated since Sunday that Miami RB Ronnie Brown is going to be out for a good amount of time. According to ESPN.com, that "good amount of time" has turned into the rest of 2009.

Ronnie Brown, the work horse RB of the Ephrata Mavericks, was put on the IR by Miami today.

Ephrata owner Trey Arnold has not decided whether his star RB will be included as one of keepers at the end of the season.

Ricky Williams, Miami's 2nd string RB, will now be Miami's starter. Williams has been picked up by the Ellensburg Miners.

Week 11 Predictions

Week 11 Picks

There seems to be issue with blogger's image uploading thing....

So I'll post the picks without them! According to me picks, Cashmere will clinch a playoff birth this weekend. Yes I know my Wenatchee Griz are on a tear, but the matchups Moses Lake has this week seem to suggest he will pull out this one. Ellensburg gets out of its scoring funk, only to have Chelan do the same. And the featured game between Ephrata and Quincy should be a good one.

Remember folks! Thursday Panthers-Fins!

Moses Lake - 92.3
Wenatchee - 88.1

Ellensburg - 90.1
Chelan - 100.1

Cashmere - 84.8

GSFBL: Purvis Brings Canada to the GSFBL

Marshall Purvis New Owner

I am proud to announce our 2nd owner in the Golden Sombrero Fantasy Baseball League. Marshall Purvis a Canadian-implant living in Mattawa, Washington will own the Mattawa fantasy baseball franchise. Purvis is the biggest Toronto Blue Jays you will find! He is ecstatic to be playing in the GSFBL, and has been playing fantasy baseball for 8 years. This is the first off-line fantasy baseball league Purvis has played in 4 years "I have played with some friends online and off-line before, but this is the kind of league I have been looking for!" Said Purvis.

Purvis has been entertaining all kinds of names for the Mattawa franchise, but has not picked a name yet. The only other official owner in the GSFBL is the Ephrata's own Trey Arnold, the owner of the CGFFL's Ephrata Mavericks. Arnold has not chosen a name as well.

We will have a big announcement in the next coming days about the Leavenworth franchise, more details to come.

3 Keepers Will Be Allowed

You Can Keep Three

I noted to all owners when you obtained your franchises that at the end of every football season, you would be allowed to keep a few players. But I never told you all how many you would be able to keep.

Well, you will be allowed to keep exactly 3 players regardless of position. ALL other players are up for redraft the following season.

Week 9 Predictions

Week 9 Predictions

My estimates show this week shouldn't have any 100+ point games, but there will be some high scoring games like every week. Due to Adrian Peterson's bye week, East Wenatchee looks poised to win this River Rivalry game. Especially with the favorable matchup for Matt Hasselbeck and T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Our featured game for Week 9 will remain Ellensburg vs Quincy, and looks to be the most competitive game.

Wenatchee - 69.4
East Wenatchee - 87.2

BREAKING NEWS: Peterson Moves Across River

Peterson to Wenatchee

In the biggest blockbuster trade in CGFFL history, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee execute a trade in which Adrian Peterson will go to Wenatchee in exchange for Michael Turner, Miles Austin, and a ton of early round draft picks.

Rumors began to swirl around the league that some big trades would be presented for voting in the last week before the trade deadline. Nobody thought Adrian Peterson would ever enter the conversation, until Wenatchee came calling. "At first I thought he was crazy, but I need the depth at WR, and the draft picks are much needed going forward" Scott Jennings, owner of the East Wenatchee Owls, stated earlier.

Just letting everyone know, some more big names have swirled around. Expect to see some late trade deadline drama the next few days.

Mid-Season Mock Draft

Mid-Season Mock Draft

Surprising Omissions

1. Matt Forte - RB - CHI - I never would have guessed, I personally was high on the guy.
2. Larry Fitzgerald - WR - ARI - Larry will be fine, just outperformed to this point.
3. LaDainian Tomlinson - RB - SD - I'm not really surprised, draft position was way to high. Possible top bust of 09'.

Surprising Newcomers

1. Ronnie Brown - RB - MIA - Can't believe I traded this dude, no more complaining for Ephrata.
2. Cedric Benson - RB - CIN - Most likely your breakout player of the year.
3. Steve Smith - WR - NYG - Wrong Smitty, may not be here if he doesn't pick it up soon.

Week 7 Predictions

Week 7 Predictions

Last week I was apparently a little pessimistic as to the prediction for my Grizzlies. Okay, I was way off! I beat the spread by 66.7 points! This weak I gave myself more credit and tallied up these games fairly. Midway Point: Breakouts and Busts

Breakouts and Busts

We are midway through the 2009 season already! Time flies by! We still have 8 total weeks to go and any player can turn it around, just as any breakout can come to a complete stall, but here are my breakouts of the 1st half of 2009 and busts of 2009. And before you read the below, I purposely left off Steve Smith of the Giants. Mainly because I see the Giants WR corps as a rotating system in fantasy value. One week its Steve Smith, then Mario Manningham, and Hakeem Nicks. No consistency.

Breakouts

1. Cedric Benson - RB - Cincinnati Bengals

Benson was not on many radars when it came to searching for a breakout RB, but the former Bear has been lights out for the Bengals. At first everyone thought it was just as fluke, until he became the 1st RB in years to put 100+ rushing yards on the Ravens defense. Chances are Benson will continue his success and enter 2010 a Top-10 RB.

2. Ray Rice - RB - Baltimore Ravens

Willis McGahee early on was stealing the spotlight from Rice, the preseason sleeper. But Rice has shown over the past few weeks that he is clearly the #1 RB for the Ravens and looks to be a solid fantasy RB for not just this season, but many to come.

3. Knowshon Moreno - RB - Denver Broncos

Most fantasy owners felt Correll Buckhaulter would cut into Moreno's carries to much for Knowshon to be a big fantasy factor. Apparently, that isn't the case. the Chelan Gulls are kicking themselves for quiting on Moreno to early and East Wenatchee is loving every moment of it.

Notables: Ronnie Brown - RB - Miami Dolphins, Steve Smith - WR - NY Giants, Rashard Mendenhall - RB - Pittsburgh Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger - QB - Pittsburgh Steelers, Nate Burleson - WR - Seattle Seahawks, Mike Sims-Walker - WR - Jacksonville Jaguars

Busts

1. Matt Forte - RB - Chicago Bears

Sorry David, I can't hold this one any longer. Forte is becoming a concern. Forte was taken with the #3 pick in the CGFFL draft this past summer. He has performed nowhere near his value. It seems Jay Cutler has done more harm then help for Forte.

2. Steve Smith - WR - Carolina Panthers

As a big time Panthers fan, this one hurts. Steve Smith for a long time was Cariolina's lone fantasy star. Seems DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart ar ethe only fantasy relevent players remaining. Smith has potential to breakout at any time, but he has struggling big time.

3. LaDainian Tomlinson - RB - San Diego Chargers

Oh boy, do not get me started on this one. I thought Tomlinson was a preseason bust from the beginning, and he has proved to be just that. Moses Lake owner Dustin Hansen took Tomlinson with the #2 pick! Already, Hansen has shipped Tomlinson out to Ellensburg in exchange for future fantasy stud Rashard Mendenhall. Expect the Bolts to take a RB in next years draft, LT is DONE!

Notables: Darren McFadden - RB - Oakland Raiders, Brian Westbrook - RB - Philadelphia Eagles, Greg Jennings - WR - Green Bay Packers, Terrell Owens - WR - Buffalo Bills, Eddie Royal - WR - Denver Broncos

Time to Freak Out???

Time to Panic?

We are almost half way through the fantasy football season, and many fantasy owners have a good reason to start flipping out. I personally have been struggling with DeAngelo Williams-Randy Moss dilemma, here are some players you should not quit on just yet.

DeAngelo Williams - RB - Carolina Panthers

Its been frustrating to be an owner of Mr. Williams. He has yet to put together a big game this season, and Jonathan Stewart is looking better with every game he plays. Stewart does look like he will eventually take over the #1 RB spot in Carolina somewhere down the line. If Williams continues to decline, it could be this year, but I'm going to give Williams the benefit of the doubt. DeAngelo did start out last season slow too, and it did look like early on Stewart would pass him. Right before Williams exploded. I need to monitor the situation, but Williams is going to be benched....yet.

Brandon Jacobs - RB - New York Giants

This past weekend, former Marshall RB Ahmad Bradshaw flipped out on fantasy owners with huge 150+ plus yard 2 TD performance. This has caused many owners to be a little uneasy with high draft pick Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs is not racking up the yards well, but more importantly, he is losing goal line carries. There is cause for concern, but Michael Fontenot cannot panic just yet. Jacobs is still the #1 B and has plenty of time to get things going, Ahmad Bradshaw has not been consistent enough for him to destroy Jacobs fantasy value. Don't give up just yet.

Randy Moss - WR - New England Patriots

Moss has been the most underachieved fantasy WR this season. I was ecstatic this past Summer when we had our draft, who would have thought Moss would fall that far? I can see why now. Moss had his worst performance thus past weekend in which he posted 1 catch for 36 yards, but I'm not going to quit on him just yet. Moss' schedule is going to start seeing easier opponents in the next few weeks going into the postseason. Moss should improve, if not, I'm going to be pissed.

-------

Now for you owners that own guys LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Westbrook, and Darren McFadden, you have a reason to be worried. Its your decision to panic or not.

Week 6 Predictions

Dang the Cascade division stinks. 3 teams have the same record at 2-3, and those are the best records in the conference! Wenatchee and Moses Lake suffered really tough loses. The bye weeks are going to begin taking their toll on everyone for the next 5 weeks. I've got the 1st ever River Bowl being uncompetitive, and most road teams coming out on top. Play the matchups boys!

Interview: Quincy's Dave Nishida

Interview

The below is a transcript of the interview I had with David Nishida, the owner of the Quincy Copperheads.

Why did you agree to become the owner of the Quincy Copperheads?

David: I'm a huge Bears fan, and we all know any NFL fan that is serious about the game also plays fantasy football. I've been playing the game for 4 years now. I thought it would be awesome to finally play in a competitive league instead of your typical online league.

Why the Copperheads?

David: Thought it was a cool name. Wanted something to do with a snake, but I also wanted it to be original.

What are your thoughts on your teams performance through 4 weeks?

David: Well.....I would have liked to be better then last place. But it is what is, hopefully last weeks win was the beginning of many.

What are your thoughts on not being able t play rival Moses Lake this year?

David: I was confused when I first saw the regular season schedule. Quincy and Moses Lake are the closest locational rivalry outside of East Wenatchee and Wenatchee. I guess I will have to wait until next year.

What do you project your final regular season record to be?

David: 9-3.....Nah just kidding. Realistically, 5-7.

-----

I plan to do more interviews throughout the season! Have a good night!

Cashmere vs Chelan - The Coffee Bowl

The Coffee Bowl

We have been debating the name of the Cashmere-Chelan rivalry for awhile now. Both sides have settled on a name. The Hornets-Gulls rivalry was made early last spring when this league was formed. Cashmere's owner is a Cashmere high school alum, and Chelan's owner is a Chelan high alum. Both these high schools are heated rivals, so the two owners took it upon themselves to make this game one of the CGFFL's first rivalries.

The game will be called the "Coffee Bowl". The name was chosen because both owners meet each other for coffee both in Chelan and Cashmere often. The winner of this game gets the "Coffee Bowl Cup"

We have come up with a name for the Wenatchee-East Wenatchee as well. That will be released next week.

Everyone get ready for this Sunday's COFFEE BOWL!!!

GSFBL: 2010 Scoring System Set

Scoring System Set

Note: A blog for the GSFBL is in the makings.

The scoring system for the league has been set. Many fantasy players would notice right off the bat in the CGFFL that we do not use a TE, K, or Defense. In the GSFBL. we will not feature pitchers.

Rosters

1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B/SS, 1 3B, 2 OFs(LF, RF, CF), and 4 Bench players. That will total up to 10 players per team in the 6 team league.

Scoring

1B – 1 Point, 2B – 2 Points, 3B – Points, HR - 4 Points, RBI - 2 Points, Run - 2 Points, BB - 1 Point, SO - (-1) Point, SB - 3 Points, and CS – (-1) Point.

-----

Also, here are the team names for 2010. Owners have not yet been determined, aside from myself and Trey Arnold.

Official Name: Leavenworth RiverHawks

Ephrata TBD

Official Name: Quincy Buffaloes

Mattawa TBD

Chelan TBD

Official Name: Waterville Wheat Sox

Anyways....back to football.

Week 5 Predictions

Week 5 Predictions

This weeks predictions came out fairly even, except for East Wenatchee. The highly hyped rivalry game between Chelan and Cashmere should be a big one by my calculations. Peterson Last Hope For Owls

Peterson On Monday Night

The East Wenatchee Owls broke out the green alternate jerseys for the Moses Lake Leopards this weekend, hoping to change their recent misfortunes in Weeks 2 and 3. The Owls were favored by a very minimal margin coming into this game, and tonight they rest their hopes on a victory on the #1 overall pick in the draft: Adrian Peterson.

Peterson will need 10.4+ fantasy points to lift the Owls to a victory tonight. We will see how things fall starting at 5:30 tonight. Moses Lake could start out 2-2. Or the Owls could start out in a big 1-3 hole. We shall see....

Rivers Gives Griz Improbable Win

Griz Win Late

The Wenatchee Grizzlies came into Cashmere expecting a automatic loss, due to the Griz RB corps being slammed by bye weeks and injuries. But nobody took into account that Philip Rivers was still playing. The Chargers QB was able to muster out 26.6 point against Pittsburgh to give Wenatchee a 67.6 - 51.3 win over Cashmere. Cashmere's loss ends this undefeated streak. There are no zero undefeated teams in the CGFFL.

We have another big game tomorrow night. Moses Lake holds a 10.3 lead over East Wenatchee, but Adrian Peterson has yet to play for the Owls. Should be fun!

Sleepers Waking Up Early?

Sleepers Awake

Every fantasy off season, owners try their very best to project what underrated players are going to explode onto the scene. Much like DeAngelo Williams and Michael Turner did in 2008. While it may be only Week 4, it seems the Chelan Gulls and Ephrata Mavericks are the winners so far.

At the seasons beginning, Cedric Benson and Willis McGahee are not RBs you were expecting to explode this season. Thus far, Benson and McGahee appear to be on pace to be Top 10 fantasy RBs at the years end.

Now I'm must warn your owners, there is still a long time between now and Week 13. Remember last season, RB Clinton Portis was the #1 fantasy RB through Week 7, right before he plummeted the rest of the way. So Benson and McGahee are subject to falling as well.

We are about to begin Week 4 boys, and thus far, here are my Top 5 break through players and Top 5 busts.

Top 5 Breakthroughs

1. Willis McGahee - RB - BAL (Ephrata)
2. Cedric Benson - RB - CIN (Chelan)
3. DeSean Jackson - WR - PHI (East Wenatchee)
4. Julius Jones - RB - SEA (Moses Lake)
5. Joe Flacco - QB - BAL (Ephrata)

Top 5 Busts

1. LaDainian Tomlinson - RB - SD (Moses Lake)
2. Darren McFadden - RB - OAK (Ellensburg)
3. Clinton Portis - RB - WAS (Free Agent)
4. Eddie Royal - WR - DEN (Free Agent)
5. Steve Slaton - RB - HOU (East Wenatchee)

Week 4 Predictions

Week 4 Predictions

My predictions were fairly legit last week, this week could go either way. I don't have any team exploding into the 100's, or even the 80's for that fact. The scoring will be fairly low. Now that I've said that, we will have 5 teams score 100+. Ha ha.

Wenatchee - 65.2
Cashmere - 79.3

Quick Week 3 Recap

Week 3 Recap

Sorry for the delay folks, been busy. This past week was either one for the memories or one to forget. Cashmere moves to 3-0 to be the only remaining unbeaten, while Quincy remains the only win less team at 0-3. Wenatchee is beginning to feel the heat of a weak WR corps and unproductive RB corps. Ellensburg has fallen 2 weeks in a row despite fairly good performances. That goes the same for East Wenatchee. Week 4 is coming quick, and that begins the 6 week run of bye weeks. This week Atlanta, Arizona, Carolina, and Philadelphia have bye weeks.

Week 3 Rankings

1. Cashmere (6)
2. Chelan (2)
3. Moses Lake
4. Ephrata
5. East Wenatchee
6. Ellensburg
7. Wenatchee

Position Battles Continue

Jennings Losing Spot?

2 weeks have passed in our fantasy football season, and of course, we are having position controversies from many teams. I am officially announcing right now that if my starting WR Eddie Royal does not post 10+ fantasy points this weekend, I will bench him for Mario Manningham or another waiver wire pickup.

I'm not the only one with position battle problems. Our in Quincy, David Nishida struggles too defend his star #1 pick Matt Forte, who has posted a terrible 11 points through 2 games. Its still very early for Forte, but Nishida hopes this isn't an issue in Week 8.

Chelan has a QB controversy with 2 inconsistent QBs. Jay Cutler and Matt Schaub have posted pretty good numbers, but its a roll of the dice as to what kind of week either will have.

Oh boy.....now onto Moses Lake. The Leopards invested high picks in RBs LaDainian Tomlinson and Pierre Thomas, and now both are succumbing to injuries. Dustin Hansen fears the obvious question, are Ryan Grant and Julius Jones going to have to carry the load for the Leopards for 2009?

Over in Chelan, Greg Jennings took a dip in production. As WR Terrell Owens had a big weekend, is Owens going to be the weekly starter? You can't really bench Larry Fitzgerald no matter how bad he gets , the Gulls used a #1 draft pick on him.

The position headaches continue, and will continue for some time. For teams with these issues, we hope to find the next DeAngelo Williams waiting for us on the waiver wire...

Be sure to set your lineups owners!

Halftime Break: Ephrata Wins

Mavericks Win!

We are at halftime, and the Ronnie Brown has given the Mavericks hope for their RB woes. Brown registered 14.2 points in the 1st half alone. Barring a historic -100 yard half(lol) Brown will have given the Mavs a win in Quincy.

The Hornets are 8.5 points behind right now going into their last chance, the 2nd half. Lucky for Cashmere that interception was reversed. This one will be fun folks!

-----

Monday Night Efforts

Last Chance for Hornets, Mavs

Monday night football has to be the best thing ever. I know the owners of the Cashmere Hornets and the Ephrata Mavericks agree. Tonight the Hornets needs at least 20.2 points in order to beat the Owls of East Wenatchee. Manning and the boys will have a tough task going up against the Miami defense.

Trey Arnold needs a small boost from his RB Ronnie Brown to win tonight. Arnold must be pulling out his hair after watching his former star RB Frank Gore put up big points this weekend, but Brown will make up for it if he can put up at least 4.2 fantasy points.

Here we go folks! Monday night football!

Dustin Hansen Signs

Hansen Signs For 2 Years

Dustin Hansen, the owner of the Moses Lake Leopards, is the second owner to sign a fantasy contract. Hansen will be the owner and manager of the Moses Lake Leopards for the 2009 season and the 2010 season.

If Hansen wishes to sign beyond 2010, we will work on a new contract. If Hansen wishes to leave anytime this season or in 2010, he must find a replacement first.

I will work on contract with every owner soon. Thus far things look like this.

Rodrigues, Owner of Wenatchee Grizzlies: Permanent
Hansen, Owner of Moses Lake Leopards: 2 Years, No Option
Miller, Owner of Ellensburg Miners: 2 Years, Option for 2011

-----

Ellensburg Owner James Miller Signs

Ellensburg Owner Signs

James Miller, the owner of the Ellensburg Miners, is the first owner to sign a fantasy contract. Miller will be the owner and manager of the Ellensburg Miners for the 2009 season and the 2010 season, with an owner option of 2011.

If Miller wishes to sign beyond 2011, we will work on a new contract. If Miller decides to decline his option, the Ellensburg franchise can be picked up by a new owner and possibly moved to a different location. If Miller wishes to leave anytime this season or in 2010, he must find a replacement first.

Oh, obviously I as the commissioner have no contract. My Wenatchee Grizzlies will be around as long as the CGFFL is.

BREAKING NEWS: Warner Now a Grizzly

BREAKING NEWS: Warner Traded to Grizzlies

Quincy Copperheads owner David Nishida has been busy. Nishida agreed to a deal that will send Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner to the Wenatchee Grizzlies in exchange for New York Jets RB Thomas Jones. A 2010 5th or 6th round pick will also be sent to Wenatchee.

This deal makes sense for both teams. for my Grizzlies, we need another QB. Plain and simple. I don't think Rivers can make it happen from Week 1-12 and beyond. So Warner is a need for my Griz to succeed.

And for the Cops, they renovated this WR corps with Steve Smith. now that they have Jones, they have one of the top RB corps around with Forte, Parker, Rice, and Jones. Sproles is a sleeper as well.

Lots of trade talk is still going around, so stay tuned.

BREAKING NEWS: Smith Headed to Quincy

BREAKING NEWS: Steve Smith Now a Copperhead

A blockbuster deal has gone through the league ownership and has been approved. Ephrata Mavs owner Trey Owner and Quincy Copperheads owner David Nishida have executed a deal that will send star WR Steve Smith to Quincy, and former fantasy star Brian Westbrook to Ephrata.

Arnold felt his team has great WR depth, but needs help at RB, "I feel letting Steve go was the right thing for the team, Westbrook will be the addition we need to help accomdate Portis and Brown" Arnold said.

This deal also will help Quincy's lack or WR depth, "We took a gamble on Brandon Marshall in the draft, and its starting to peek its ugly head" Nishida said. " Steve Smith will be a big help to Calvin Johnson and boost our week WR corps" said Nishida.

Westbrook is a necessary loss, due to the Cops already having RBs like Matt Forte and Ray Rice.

All Day Does it Again, Brees Explodes

AP Comes Storming Out of the Gate

Week 1 is all but over for the 8 franchises in the CGFFL. The Owls have already secured an 89.5 - 70.8 over the Copperheads, thanks to an unreal 37 point performance from Adrian "All Day" Peterson. But Peterson wasn't the only player to explode, Ellensburg's Drew Brees added, what should be a season high for all fantasy players, 45 points for the Miners. I really can't see any other fantasy player putting up that many points the rest of the season.

If you haven't noticed yet, we have switched the featured game of the week to Wenatchee vs Ellensburg, due to the fact that the Chelan vs Moses Lake game was early victory for the Leopards. Cashmere is in the same situation, already getting the W over Ephrata, but the Hornets still ahve a few players to play.

The Grizzlies will need Randy Moss and Philip Rivers to score 37 total points plus whatever Darren McFadden adds to the Miners score in order for the Grizzlies to even be in the ball park for a win.

Oh......and we have a new logo! Look to your right >>>>>

Opening Night Thoughts

Chris Johnson Will Be Fine

After watching the Pittsburgh vs Tennessee game last night, I realized that RB Chris Johnson, a player that I felt could have some bust potential, will be just fine. Playing a stout Pittsburgh defense, Chris Johnson amassed 6.8 fantasy points on 57 rushing yards and 11 receiving yards. While those stats won't be jumping off the board this weekend among RBs, Johnson did show that he will still see majority of the carries and can still make plays. Johnson will not be playing the Steelers every weekend, so expect him to be a Top 10 RB again this season.

As for the rest of the night, tough draw for Trey Arnold's Mavs. When will the Steelers finally cut the line with Willie Parker? And I'm pretty sure the Leopards are kicking themselves for not playing Santonio Holmes(19.1 fantasy points).

Sunday is near players!

Well owners, I went through all of the starting lineups as of today, and I I've tallied up my predicted performances and came up with the below for week 1. Ellensburg - 85.6
Wenatchee - 97.4

Moses Lake - 92.6
Chelan - 72.7

Quincy - 104.4

Week 1 Top Player Predictions

Week 1 Projections

We are only 2 days away from the fantasy regular season opener, when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Tennessee Titans. Below are my picks to be the top QB, RB, and WR of Week 1.

QB - Drew Brees vsDetroit

Brees took over Tom Brady as the top fantasy QB by throwing over 5,000 passing yards in 2008. Brees opens the season facing the Detroit Lions, is there anything else to say?

Projection: 341 Passing Yards, 3 TD Passes, 12 Rushing Yards
Total Fantasy Points: 30.6

RB - Ray Rice vsKansas City

Kansas City is having all kinds of problems on both sides of the ball. Despite splitting carries with 2 other RBs, Ray Rice will rack up the receiving yards against the Chiefs defense.

Projection: 107 Rushing Yards, 1 TD Rush, 91 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
Total Fantasy Points: 31.8

WR - Randy Moss vsBuffalo

The Bills have never had great success in New England. Brady and the boys will roast the suspect Buffalo defense. Brady will have tunnel vision for Randy Moss, giving Moss the top fantasy performance among WRs.

Projection: 129 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TDs
Total Fantasy Points: 24.9

MJD to Have MRI Friday

Jones-Drew Hurt?

NFL.com - Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew might not be 100 percent when the season begins after bruising his lower right leg during Thursday night's 24-17 preseason-ending victory over the Washington Redskins.

X-rays on the leg were negative, but Jones-Drew is scheduled to have an MRI exam Friday. Although Jones-Drew has been fairly durable in three seasons, he could be slowed heading into the Sept. 13 season opener at Indianapolis.

Jones-Drew hurt his leg on the opening series when Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot tackled him following a short reception. Jones-Drew exchanged words with Smoot and safety LaRon Landry before leaving the field, then slammed his helmet to the ground and headed to the locker room.

Read More at NFL.com...

--------

We know the Cashmere organization is clinging to hope that this may be just a minor injury. Hopefully we do not have our first Tom Brady-like injury in the preseason.

UPDATE: MJD is fine, just as bruise.

TA: McCoy will Dethrone Westbrook

Guest Writer: Trey Arnold

Whats up boys? Glad to be posting on the blog. Before I get started, I'd like to give Michael
Fontenot credit for his article. He makes a legit point, we all better hope Stewart comes through.

Know, you all know I'm a big Eagles fan. Grew up a fan of the Eagles and have always supported them and their players. But I'm hear to put the debate to rest, Brian Westbrook is NOT a good fantasy option! Why? Because of Shady McCoy. The Pittsburgh product has been the #1 RB this entire preseason while Westbrook rests yet another injury.

LeSean has totaled at 90 rushing yards on 26 carries, which I must admit, comes out a not so great 3.5 YPC. Over the 3 games McCoy has stacked up 10 catches for 60 receiving yards as well. So obviously McCoy hasn't popped out at anyone this preseason. But I'm hear to tell you, he won't have to to gain the #1 spot. Brian Westbrook will take care if that.

I've been playing fantasy football for 6 years now. In every one of those seasons I tried to get Westbrook in my drafts, and why not? He was a fantasy star on my favorite team. Over the past few years, Westbrook has worn down and consistently gets hurt. Now, that the ripe old age of 30, Westbrook has to prove that he still has something left in the tank. He and LT are in the same ball park, difference is, LT doesn't have a star in the making nipping at his heels.

I'm grateful for the many years of fantasy stardom that my favorite player Brian Westbrook has given me, but its now time to hand the torch to #29.

I'm not claiming this to be the year of LeSean McCoy. I don't see a Matt Forte or Chris Johnson like season, but Shady will show rays of light in the Philly offense at some point in the 2009 season.

Thanks to the commish for letting me write this article! Good luck to everyone this season!

MF: Did Owners Make Mistake?

Guest Writer: Michael Fontenot

Hey guys! I'm guest writing on the blog to point out something painfully obvious that has yet to be brought up. Our draft occurred a few weeks ago, and that the time, the draft seemed fairly even. No one team looked far better then everyone else. Now that the preseason and fall camp have developed, its become very apparent to me that the Wenatchee Grizzlies are incredibly loaded at RB. Michael Turner is the work horse for the Griz, but letting DeAngelo Williams fall into Round 2 may prove to be a costly error for the opponents Wenatchee will face. Jonathan Stewart, also owned by the Griz, has been out of practice for an extensive amount of time. Stewart at this point will likely not see a ton of carries early in the season to preserve his health. Williams may get even more carries if Stewart re-aggravates his Achilles tendon. Williams stock dropped because many owners had the feeling that Stewart would see more carries in 2009, but with this latest development, Stewart may end up losing more carries to DeAngelo Williams.

For all I know, Stewart will be fine come Week 1 and throughout the season. But I'll tell everyone, you had better hope Stewart shapes up! If not, the Wenatchee Grizzlies may be a force to reckon with.

And I haven't even touched on Frank Gore.......

LOL Thanks to Jeremy for giving me a chance to post. Trey Arnold, the owner of the Ephrata Mavericks, will his express his opinion on a fantasy-related topic of choice next!

Commissioner Edit: I've asked all owners if they want to post something on the blog. Only Michael, Trey, and Scott want too. So expect those 3 to post here and there.

Week 1 Rankings, AP Still #1

Week 1 Rankings

1. East Wenatchee
2. Chelan
3. Wenatchee
4. Cashmere
5. Ephrata
6. Quincy
7. Ellensburg
8. Moses Lake

-----

Yes, East Wenatchee made a massive jump in the poll. Adrian Peterson clearly showed he will get a massive load again this year. Now that defenses have to respect Brett Favre, Peterson will thrive. That along with an improved Barber, Slaton, and Houshmandzadeh should boost the Owls. East Wenatchee put up 57.6 points with only 5 starters!

I personally think Quincy, Ellensburg, and Moses Lake are contenders, but I had to rank them somewhere! they just don't currently matchup to teams like Cashmere and Chelan.

It was fun to get the fantasy season going. Only 12 more days until the wins and losses count!

Down to the Wire

Quincy Scores at Buzzer

The 2009 fantasy season has gotten off to a bang thanks to Matt Forte. Down by 3.8 points, Quincy needed some help before the 2nd quarter ended. Forte and the Bears began a 98 yard drive on their own 2 yard line. Forte was unable to make the big plays Quincy needed after being shoved at the Denver 1 yard line. Then, on 3rd down, Forte caught a TD pass in the endzone to give Quincy the home opening victory.

There could be more thrillers to come. Ephrata will need 9.6+ points from Andre Johnson to defeat my Grizzlies, and East Wenatchee will need 17.4+ combined points from Adrian Peterson and Steve Slaton. Both should go down to the wire. Stay tuned for Monday night football folks!

Don't Look to Much Into it

Preseason Illusions

The fantasy season has begun and with Sunday and Monday games left, we already have one game finished. Cashmere defeated Ellensburg in Ellensburg 41.4 - 30.0. While Cashmere may be a top team this year, there's no need for Ellensburg, or any team for that matter, to get down on their roster in the preseason.

Even in the 3rd week of the preseason, the week where most teams play their starters through 3 quarters, some coaches will sit their stars very early. For example, Ellensburg's star RBs Steven Jackson and Darren McFadden both played 4 drives combined. that is not going to happen in the regular season!

Star RBs like DeAngelo Williams and LaDainian Tomlinson didn't even play! So no need to panic, save that for Week 4 if your team is 0-3.
