Overview

The Owls opened the 2009 campaign better then anyone did, by obtaining the #1 pick for the 2009 draft. Owner Scott Jennings did not take any gambles with the #1 pick, he took the obvious #1 pick in Adrian Peterson, who is more likely to repeat another big year then anyone. Jennings is very high on his QB Matt Ryan, whom he took fairly early. Especially when other Top 8 QBs were available. Other then Peterson, Jennings selected 2 sink or swim RBs in Marion Barber and Steve Slaton. Barber appears to be poised to lose a lot of carries to Felix Jones this season, and Steve Slaton looks to have lost some goaline carries to Chris Brown. All could hurt the East Wenatchee Owls. WRs Wes Welker and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are both poised for monster 2009 seasons, and will help carry this team. The bench is arguably one of the worst in the league with Matt Hasselbeck, a injury prone QB returning from a nagging back injury. Larry Johnson used to be a fantasy dominator, now in Todd Haley's offense, he is lucky if he sees 200 carries. DeSean Jackson is a great backup whom I think will replace Marion Barber as a starter by Week 5, and Davone Bess will get his receiving yards, but isn't much of a TD guy. East Wenatchee has potential as all teams do, but we predict many teams being in the 4-8 to 6-6 mold. Games can go either way but we see the Owls as a 4-8 team who struggles in conference play with a 1-5 record.
